Helen Jeanette Riley

Mrs. Helen Jeanette Riley, 71, of West Burlington, died at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born September 19, 1940 in Burlington, she was the daughter of James Raymond and Lela Maude Kimbrough Helmick. On October 17, 1958 she married Robert Riley. Mrs. Riley first worked as a secretary at Burlington Produce and later in human resources for Burlington Basket Factory for five years. Mrs. Riley was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Moose, Eagles, Burlington Gym and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo with her friends and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Robert Riley of West Burlington; one son, Jim Riley of Lone Tree; two daughters, Rebecca "Becky" (Art) Klein of Burlington and Lynette Hamilton of Boone; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Tom (Sue) Helmick of Burlington and Jack (Debbie) Helmick of Washington; two sisters, Lela Tull of Burlington and Patricia (Rodney) Boney of Ector, Texas and several nieces and nephews. day, March 16th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Riley will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17th, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Moberg officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established for breast cancer research.
