Eileen E. Jones HEDRICK, Iowa -- Eileen E. Jones, 87, of Hedrick, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel, Walnut and Main, Fremont, Iowa. The Rev. Bill Hornback will officiate services. Burial will follow at Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. with family present between the hours of 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made in her name to the Fremont Fire and Rescue Unit. Eileen was born on February 14, 1925, in What Cheer, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Ferns and Clara Edith Bechtel Ferns. She attended Country School near What Cheer. She was united in marriage to Floyd H. Jones on December 21, 1940, in Lancaster, Missouri. Following marriage she cared for her aunt and cousin. Following Floyd's return from the service they moved to Fremont. In the spring of 1953, they moved to Martinsburg and later returned to Fremont, before moving to the Hedrick Housing in Hedrick. ton, and later in Ottumwa. She also worked at the Continental Overall Factory in Oskaloosa. Her last employment was sorting seeds seasonally for McCurdy's in Fremont. She retired in the early 1990's. She and Floyd enjoyed wintering in Texas while they were able. Eileen enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fishing, mushrooming and especially dog sitting "Buffy." She is survived by a daughter; Caroline Seaba and husband, Donald, of Atalissa, a son; Eugene Jones and wife, Juanita, of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Gary Seaba, Scott Seaba, Lisa Allen, and Gene Jones; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and three sisters-in-law, Opal Jones, Pauline Ferns, and Joan Ferns. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Andy, Dale, Louie and Russell Ferns; a half-sister, Maude; six half-brothers, Bill, Lloyd, Ray, Claude, Carl and Harold, a step-brother, Ernest; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Anne Seaba.
