Ronald Cleatus Syverud

Sun Prairie- Ronald C. Syverud, age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg. He was born on July 20, 1928 in Madison the son of Helmer & Arvilla (Horstmeyer) Syverud. Ron was united in marriage with Patricia Cornell on June 13, 1959 in Madison and they enjoyed over 41 years of marriage until her death on November 13, 2000. He was a lifelong resident of the Madison/Sun Prairie area. Ron was honored to serve his country with the U.S. Army. He was employed with Wisconsin Power & Light, retiring after 32 years. He was an active member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, Sun Prairie and the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he enjoyed gathering with friends to play cards and golf and also volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Ron is survived by his children, Mary (Maurice Sims) Napolean, Madison, Diana (Greg Bogart) Syverud, Richmond,CA and Mark (Mary) Syverud, Gurnee, IL; his grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Luke Syverud; his sister, Shirley (Lee) Hanson, Madison; nieces, nephews and other relatives. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie with Msgr. Duane R. Moellenberndt presiding. Burial to be held in the church's cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to American Heart Association or Agrace HospiceCare. The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their wonderful care and kindness.
