Donna Nickelson

Donna Jean Schilling Nickelson was born December 27, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa to Merna Schilling and spent her childhood in the Norwood area. Donna attended the Norwood Consolidated School, Primrose Country School, Liberty Center School and continued her education in Chariton, graduating from Chariton High School in 1951. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary-bookkeeper. Most of those years were spent working for the Chariton School District in the High School Office. Donna became a Christian in her early teens and attended faithfully the churches of her choice. Donna married Lyle O. Nickelson on April 6, 1952 at the United Brethren Church in Chariton. Donna and Lyle loved to travel, and were blessed to have traveled world wide and throughout most of the United States. She belonged to Red Haw Campers and the Snow Seekers Snowmobile Club, WayLuca Sweet Adeline Chorus, and the Country Club. She loved the outdoors and regularly volunteered at the Pin Oak Marsh. Donna was a member of the Red Hat Society, Woman's Club, and organized the "Donna Day" group. Donna passed away suddenly, February 19, 2012 in Des Moines.
