Ray C. Ryerkerk

Ray C. Ryerkerk, age 92 of Runnells, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be directed to the Activity Fund at Mitchell Village and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The son of John and Jennie (Nugteren) Ryerkerk, Ray was born on October 5, 1919, in Prairie City, Iowa. On March 8, 1957, he was united in marriage to Louise D. Beerends in Pella. Ray graduated from Prairie City High School and farmed in the area most of his life. Ray was a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church. Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Lois (Arnold) DeWaard of Pleasantville, Iowa, Janet (Keith) Hammann of Des Moines, Iowa, Marla (Bruce Staten) Ryerkerk of Carlisle, Iowa, and Denise (David Doherty) Ryerkerk of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Heather (James) Montgomery, Anthony Staten, and Serena Doherty; two step grandchil...[more]
