James Alva Miller was born February 8, 1946, in Sheldon, Iowa, the son of Lester and Florence (Wilson) Miller. He grew up and attended school in Sheldon and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1964. After his schooling he joined the United States Navy and served his country from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1971. Jim attended college at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville followed by Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. After he completed college he moved to Algona and began to work at Snap-On Tools. On April 28, 1995, Jim was united in marriage to Ann Collins at the First Presbyterian Church in Algona. After their marriage they lived in Algona where Jim continued working at Snap-On Tools until his retirement in 2003. Jim later went to work at Monson Salvage and was currently working a job he thoroughly enjoyed at Cook's Scrap Iron and Metal. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and especially following the grandchildren in all their school activities and sporting events. ona and following Nascar. Jim died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. He was 66. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann of Algona; children, Ryan and Lori Miller of Algona; Nate Miller of Titonka; Angie and Steve Eischeid of Algona; Julie Simonson of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Karly, Meredith and Alex Miller; Seth and Jordan Eischeid and Grant and Josee Simonson. Also surviving are siblings, Merlyn "Sam" and Pat Miller of Sheldon; Archie and Joanne Miller of Diamond Bar, California; Les and Merryann Miller of Livingston, Texas; Roger and JoAnne Miller of Rancho CucaMonga, California; Donna and Larry Menke of Sioux City; sisters-in-law, Ann Miller of Primghar and Ethel Miller of Sibley along with many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize Jamie and Jess Weishaar and son, Brandon of Algona for all their extra love and support. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ronald, Kenneth and Doyle Miller.
