June Horkey

June Irene (Grunewald) Horkey, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Martin) Grunewald was born June 27, 1943 in Windom, MN. She grew up in Dale Township and went to Greenhill School until 8th grade. She finished her 9th grade education in Windom. She was united in marriage to Richard LeRoy Horkey on February 18, 1961 in Windom. They lived in Texas two years when Richard was serving in the United States Army and then in Oaks Lakes, Minnesota for 3 years before moving to Windom. Through the years, June took care of her mother, her brother's children along with raising her own children. After June's mother passed away she went to work at the candy factory in Jackson, Minnesota then worked at Sogge Good Samaritan Center, Hardee's, McDonald's, Subway, and Caldwell Packing, all in Windom. Richard passed away on December 10, 1990. In 1998 June became disabled and her daughter moved in with her and took care of her. June was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, looking at cookbooks, gardening and watching her shows like the cooking channel and soap operas.
