Ruth Hanson MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Ruth Hanson, 93, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Bickford Cottage. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, Luther College in Decorah, or Bickford Cottage. Ruth C. Hanson was born on March 25, 1918, in Decorah, the daughter of Ole and Hannah Boe Glesne. On May 21, 1944, Ruth was united in marriage to Austin Hanson in Decorah. She attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota for two years, Fairview Hospital for three years, and then in 1940, she received her R.N. license from the state of Minnesota. g bread, tending her flower garden, and bird watching. During the winter months, Ruth enjoyed walking on the beach with her husband while vacationing in Florida. Ruth will be deeply missed by her daughter, Martha Carley and husband, Robert, of Arden Hills, Minnesota; her son, David Hanson and wife, Teresa, of Muscatine; two granddaughters, Kiersten Hanson of Norway, and Kari Ploysa and husband, Nick, of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Nels Glesne and his wife, Marjorie, of North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Shirley Hanson of Decorah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; two sisters; and four brothers.
