Hazel Roena Blake

Funeral services for Hazel Roena Carr Blake, 101, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Tipton who died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. A memorial has been established in her memory. Hazel was born on October 9, 1910, in Rural Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Melvin and Iona Lahmon Carr. She attended rural Cedar County Schools while growing up. Hazel was united in marriage to Edwin John Blake on February 25, 1933, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Ronald) Ford of Loveland, Colorado, Carolyn (John) Cook of Tipton, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Blake on March 13, 2007; sisters, Wretha Clippinger and Sylvia Carr; and brothers, Harold and John Carr. [more]
